This sector provides all important elements for the building of the country's basic infrastructure. Since the dawn of the blessed renaissance, the transport and Communications sector has been playing an important role in establishing the basic elements of the infrastructure; be it in the field of roads, civil aviation or public transport. This has been aimed at realizing the greatest share of development for the modern life and the Omani national to whom all social and economic development are targeted.

The road network in the sultanate has witnessed substantial progress, linking extensively all parts of the sultanate. This has contributed in achieving economic and social prosperity. The coast line of Oman is dotted with sea ports that were designed to fulfill the targeted national goals.  In another field, a greater importance has been given to airports, particularly Seeb international airport and Salalah airport, to cope with increased traffic spurred by the pace of economic development and the transport activity between the Sultanate and other countries.
